New Imogen Heap Available Via Stream One Week Early

Recently I mentioned Imogen Heap’s forthcoming new album, Eclipse, which is still a week away from availability. Well, Imogen herself just announced in a tweet that the entire album is available for listening via streaming. I’ve embedded the player below but you can also listen here. Enjoy!

10 Area Companies in Inc. 500 List

Inc500Inc. Magazine just released the 2009 Inc. 500 List which ranks private U.S. companies according to their growth rate from the years 2005 to 2008. I am happy to report that there are 10 area companies on the list this year:

Pos. Company City
84 Connexion Technologies Cary
116 Rockett Interactive Cary
162 TowerCo Cary
189 iContact Durham
250 USfalcon Morrisville
261 Media Two Interactive Clayton
305 Power Home Technologies Raleigh
424 Oak Grove Technologies Raleigh
426 Bulk TV & Internet Raleigh
438 The Select Group Raleigh

A special congrats goes out to The Select Group who recruited me for my current job (which I am really enjoying). I can attest that they are working hard to achieve those growth numbers and it’s great to see them get some recognition for their efforts! Congrats, you guys and to all who made the list!

Sharply-dressed MyNC Mobile Site

Saw an ad this morning for the new MyNC.com mobile site. I was certainly a bit skeptical as I haven’t been won over so much by the main MyNC.com site, but I gave it a look anyway and must say I like it. Sure, it is very basic, but that’s what helps it shine. It looks great on my iPhone and is easy to use on the smaller screen.

What local sites or apps do you like?  Do you think it is worth the time/resources for businesses to develop local apps or sites?

25 Free Tracks from Urban Outfitters

LSTN6Just noticed that Urban Outfitters has released the 6th incarnation of their LSTN series, a collection of songs from emerging indie artists. This one is comprised of 25 tracks which you can download for free or stream directly from their site. So far, standouts for me are tracks from Talbot Tagora and Lightning Dust, but I’m still digesting it all. If history is any indication, I’m sure I’ll end up loving at least a few of the groups this compilation has introduced me to.

Enjoy!
