Here’s the first entry in what I hope becomes a regular feature here on raleighing.com, Raleighing Raves. Occasionally, I’ll pick a topic and list my own personal favorites in the area. First one up is the beloved yet oft undervalued sandwich. There are a bunch of great sandwiches available here in Raleigh but I’ve narrowed [...]

I’m a huge fan of Thai food and when a co-worker suggested we try Viva Thai I didn’t need much persuasion. Viva Thai is in a strip mall shopping center off of Maynard in Cary – an area that has a quite varied array of international offerings. It’s a sort of no frills atmosphere but [...]

Cary’s La Farm Bakery is hitting the big time! On the Thursday, March 29th episode of The Rachael Ray Show, La Farm’s own Oatmeal-Raisin and Chocolate Chip cookies will be featured as the “snack of the day” which Rachael offers to the audience.
In honor of the big occasion, La Farm will be offering complimentary [...]

Details don’t seem to be available on the Char-grill site, but I have seen a sign by the new Fresh Market on Cary Parkway announcing Char-grill is opening soon. Although I do admit that I’m [...]

In case you’ve been under a rock, Trader Joe’s first area store opened yesterday in Cary. The store is about half the size of the former Winn-Dixie (about the size of two typical parcels in Cameron Village), and is a good addition to the area.
TJ’s carries many groceries including various cheeses, meats, canned goods chips, [...]

The latest creation by Lou Moshakos (Carolina Ale House, Taverna Agora, Papa Lou’s) comes in the form of Bentley’s American Grill. While the restaurant is a former Houlihan’s in the Crossroads Target parking lot (look for the clock tower), the experience inside is quite different than one would expect. The restaurant opened last weekend and [...]
