Well, it appears that my blog has digressed into an announcement engine for Urban Outfitters compilations. So, in that spirit, here’s the heads up that they have released LSTN #8 which features tracks from indie acts including some of my favorites such as Yeasayer, Beach House, Owen Pallett, and Fanfarlo. As always, the [...]

Sometime recently, Urban Outfitters released the 7th in its series of free compilations featuring up and coming indie acts. This one has some of my recent faves: Girls, The xx, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Dodos, and Islands. They’re releasing these things just about as fast as I can keep up!
Enjoy!

Over the past week, Pitchfork.com has been counting down the top 500 songs of the 2000s. Their list is an interesting mix of indie and mainstream offerings with a real focus on the individual track rather than the album of which it is a part. Upon logging into Lala.com today, I was happy [...]

This one is comprised of 25 tracks which you can download for free or stream directly from their site. So far, standouts for me are tracks from Talbot Tagora and Lightning [...]

Durham-based Megafaun is releasing a new album, Gather, Form, & Fly, on Tuesday. I have only heard the track below so far but am looking forward to taking in the whole thing tomorrow. These guys came to the area several years back from Eau Claire, Wisconsin as the band DeYarmund Edison which also included Justin [...]

Clearly the winner of this year’s “Best Band Name” among the debuts, We Were Promised Jetpacks just recently released These Four Walls, a collection of emotive, raw, anthemic tunes that belie their frosh status. Definitely qualify for a “Recommended If You Like” description that includes labelmates and fellow countrymen Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad, [...]

Long-time cult favorites Guster have just announced a special 9-date tour to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their breakthrough album, Lost and Gone Forever. Per their website, each night will feature two sets including the album performed in its entirety. Guster gives a great live show so I am sure this will be a [...]
