Sad Day for Raleighing

I am sorry to hear of this news. The two of y’all really had a good thing going there and I hope that in the near future things will resume to be the raleighing that we have all grown close to.

Many thanks to Dana for his work on this site, one of my favorite local sites to visit. Chris – I hope you decide continue to work on this blog (or else convince the N&O; to hire a better retailing reporter!)

I’m sorry to see Dana go, but I hope he continues to post informative information and his great ideas on UrbanPlanet. You guys had a great thing here for a while and Dana’s contribution will be greatly missed.

Well, damn… that sucks.

I’d love to see this forum continue. My wife and I were thrilled to discover Raleighing a few months ago. It is wonderful resource, and is exactly what Raleigh needs.
Running a site like this can feel like a full time job. Please consider adding a few more editors to post stories. I’ll bet there are some smart and hardworking people out there who would love to contribute in this way.
I also second an idea I saw posted in a comment earlier. Provide a form (or e-mail address) for people who want to submit leads.
Finally, don’t get too upset at the few people who are posting negative criticism. The world is full of sad sack losers for whom the internet has provided the perfect anonymous forum from which they can snipe and jeer. However, the rest of us shouldn’t let them spoil our fun

Sorry to hear this news. Have you thought about a colaboration effort from several “hand-picked” people that could provide input to the blog rather than taking it on all by yourself?

As for Raleighing, I hope that this site can remain, its a valuable resource for many and a haven from advertisement driven sites that all have agenda’s. This site has been a pure look into all that Raleigh was, is and will become. Lets keep it going!

As an avid reader, I’m sorry to see Dana go. Chris – if you need contributors for blog content, let me know. I know of several great blogger resources who would love to help.

Even if this site continues, I doubt I will continue checking it or contributing. I have found you and Chris to be polar opposites and little desire to continue reading Chris’ posts without a chance to catch yours.

I’d like to second the suggestion for others lead reporting function, or you could draft 2-4 others to have “front page posting” credentials. That might even be a better way of keeping the site fresh.
Perhaps have a new development person, and an entertainment person. You are already the food critic.

I understand how difficult it is to keep a blog going, especially one that relies on thoughtful and insightful posts.
I really hope it keeps going. I have found out about many local happenings solely through this site.

My comments may not carry enough weight to make Dana change his mind, but let me say this, anyway: What matters is how many people your hard work benefited, not how few reacted negatively. Raleighing.com is a genuine effort, and as such it is more prone to non-constructive criticism, particularly when more and more readers post their views here.
Dana, if you have to give up your vision because some irresponsible, wanna-be-critics want to change the content of a site for which you and Chris are paying the bills, then you are not as strong as I thought you were. I maintain a webpage, as you know, and even though I have not received the criticism that 1-2 individuals gave you as a “gift”, I would NEVER allow anyone to dictate the direction of my own creation.
Please, reconsider, return to your work – second job, that is – and keep moving (along with Chris) Raleighing.com to the right direction. Do not allow shallow individuals to insult you and discourage you from doing what’s right.
Chris, you will continue to get my support, if you decide to move forward on your own.
