Storehouse Closing All Locations

The North Hills location of Storehouse is one of the shopping center’s flagship stores. Unfortunately the chain had to file Chapter 11 last month and has been sold to Hudson Capital Partners, a liquidation specialist. According to the Triangle Business Journal, the Raleigh and Chapel Hill stores will participate in a liquidation sale along with the 68 other closing locations. Any bets on how long it takes Pier1 to take its place at North Hills?

We’re getting a Costco and a Trader Joe’s so now all we need is an Ikea (and some good radio stations, but that’s another thread) and we’ll trully will be one of the best places to live.
If you haven’t already, sign the petition for a Raleigh Ikea:

Now that is a VERY poor yardstick to measure a city. Dean & Deluca is owned by a guy in Kansas City. They have store locations in NYC, Georgetown, Charlotte, and Napa Valley. By your definition, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Houston are “redneck backwater”, too.
I spoke to one of the Sr. VP’s 4 years ago and talked up Raleigh to him. He explained that they have stores where they have them for a reason: The owner lives in Kansas City. His sister lives in the Napa Valley. His best friend lives in Charlotte. These are tax writeoffs for him.
Unfortunately the prepared foods market sector is faring quite poorly across the nation. Southern Market had a great concept in Myrtle Beach, but they closed within the last year. Eatzi’s is fantastic, but not even the new owner Brinker can get the numbers right for expansion.
The Dean & Deluca exec said that their focus was on expansion into markets like Miami and Chicago. FOUR YEARS later, neither has a store.
There are major chains which Raleigh sorely lacks, but Dean & Deluca is not one we should expect any time soon.

Curious as to which major chains “Raleigh sorely lacks” — an assertion I’m certainly not questioning either, Dana. But, wondering if we could start a thread to consolidate our comments as to which entities we so desire. It would be interesting to see the diversity of wants and needs in Raleigh’s citizens.

Where are we getting a Trader Joe’s? This is the first I’ve heard of it and there’s nothing about it on their website.

“Trader Joe’s is moving in at the site of the old Winn-Dixie on Kildaire Farm Road at Cary Parkway. It is a specialty grocery store that originated in Los Angeles nearly 40 years ago.
Cary officials say Trader Joe’s will share the old Winn-Dixie space with a new Staples location. “
