Your idealistic response is an easy one. Certainly the most easily acceptable argument, but there are a lot more variables that need to be taken into consideration. Certainly more than should be discussed in this type of forum. My point was simply that no one would ever redevelop that land without accommodating for the elevation. No one could afford the flood insurance alone. Therefore it would have simply gone undeveloped… Sure, a park would have been nice, but would a park have survived in that location? What would have survived there that wouldn’t have required filling in the land? Again, many, many variables that your idealistic response doesn’t address either.

Hooray! No more driving to Durham’s COSTCO therefore saving gas and time. I met Nick “The Produce Guy” on opening day and he was so pleasant and helpful. Welcome to NC Nick – you’ll miss your beautiful Idaho home but you’ll love NC like the rest of us who moved from another place.
The “flower lady” is also lovely – her flowers are awesome for the price. My husband rarely thinks to buy me flowers (guess he puts them in the same class as diamonds – overpriced and not a long term investment!) so I will buy my own from COSTCO.
And, dear son………..(Spike), just get your “Wellies” ready for really wet days – if necessary we’ll paddle into COSTCO together!

I’ve waited 5 1/2 long years for this Costco to open!! Moving from Arizona, where I’ve been a member for over a decade, was traumatic when I found there was no Costco here! We’ve driven to Durham for 5 1/2 years, but NO MORE! Thank goodness you’re here!! WELCOME!

We are members of BJ’s and in the past for several years with Sam’s Club. Eventho we still have time left on our BJ’s card, we prefer Costco. The prices are good and we find everything we need. The People that work at Costco’s are the greatest.
