Soleil Center Site Adds Features

Soleil
The website for the planned 43-story Soleil Center (pronounced "so-LAY") has added some impressive features. Visit the site and click on the "Launch Soleil Center Overview" to see a movie with animated fly-bys and fly-throughs of the building’s exterior, terraces, and condo units. Click "Launch Digital Brochure" and you’ll see floorplans of the condo units on page 15. (Keep in mind that the flat face in the bottom of the floorplans directly faces the Glenwood/Creedmoor intersection. The acute angle at the left points in the direction of the old Steak & Ale location).

The upper half of the building’s 5,400 square foot floors will only contain condo units. Most floors will only have 2 units per floor, but some floors will contain one large condo unit. Because it appears that the elevator core will contain just 3 elevators, my guess is that residents will share elevators with the Westin hotel guests on the lower floors. Presumably the floors above the hotel’s top floor will be keyed access, only. It will be interesting to see if the fire escapes have free access to the upper floors from the hotel floors.

Word we hear is that the official groundbreaking is set for October.

I’m more excited about the new hotel than the condos — we really need something in North Raleigh to supplement the dated Marriott and tired Hilton. For the Triangle, I can hardly contain myself with the prospect of The Umstead.

Fantastic presentation from the Soliel group. What firm is responsible for producing that Dana?

Curious about this project’s status as I was passing through the neighborhood, I cruised by the site this afternoon. No activity at all. Word on the street was that the groundbreaking was planned for October. Anyone have an update on construction?

I live in a home close to the site and am excited about your beautiful project. I am just puzzled that you would have such a small sign at the site and a couple of pitiful geraniums growning beneath it covered in 2 ft weeds. What kind of image are you trying to project. Do you not know how to make a nice presentation?? You are doing just the opposite to all the thousands of cars that pass everyday! Wake UP! Ron Salem

This project is becoming a joke. I wont begin to assume what goes on behind the scenes in these type of projects, but really, what is happening here?

I think I can finally see a small crane out there. But I’ve yet to see any work being done.
