The "Godfather of Go-go", Chuck Brown, will be playing at the Sheraton downtown on Saturday night (9:00pm). Tickets are $25.
Brown has been a fixture in the D.C. music scene for over 25 years, and has a new CD out hoping the genre he created will catch on nationally. Charles Stephenson stated in a recent NPR feature that go-go hasn’t gone national because "you really have to experience it in order
to fully appreciate it"; and because it lacks the hooks and formats of
most radio-playlist staples.
The event is being produced by Dynasty 5, a local social group trying to offer a laid-back setting in which young black professionals can network. See their site for more details!
