As Good As It Gets

CupwinWow, what a night!  Certainly will go down as one of the most exciting nights of my life.  What an amazing game and an even more amazing crowd.  On our feet for the entire game!  You all rock!!!!  I definitely think we were the 7th man tonight and helped to give the team a lift.  And needless to say, they rose to the challenge.  Awesome.  Totally awesome.

My wife and I just got back from the Glenwood South celebration and while I have many, MANY negative things to say about the leaders of Raleigh including those who call the shots for our police force, I will just leave it for now by saying that the Raleighers tonight were fantastic and made me very proud.  What a fantastic thing for our city!  I love the fact that the announcers on XM and other sports outlets were singing our praises all night.  We deserve it!

Sorry my moblogging didn’t go so well tonight.  Several of the pictures I took during the game didn’t make it onto the site and then my dang phone died.  Oh well.  It was worth a shot!

Dana and I will have several followup posts reflecting on the whole thing, but for now I’ll just say CONGRATULATIONS CANES and CONGRATULATIONS CANIACS!!  The CUP now lives in RALEIGH!!!

After all of the work many of us have put into bringing the NHL to Raleigh; through our youth hockey program, to our minor league team in the ECHL League (to whit for this honor we owe those great minor leaguers as Rick Barkovic and his compatriots) and all who contributed to our city getting our franchise (Mr. Karmanos, those ex-Hurricanes who have invested so much in our city, though they no longer play here, and to Dick Cox- the Canadian expat who took so much interest in a group of young ex-northerners and really taught us the game- from the bench to the box to the ice), our city has brought home the Cup to Central Carolina, to the Triangle, and to Raleigh.
    Tonight Our City Is Proud.
Sleep well with the Cup, Raleigh. We have earned it.
