Thai House Opens in Former Thai Garden Space

Looks like we now have another Thai option in Raleigh as Thai House is now open on Hardimont Road at Wake Forest Road behind Eastgate Shopping Center.  This is the former location of Thai Garden, a one-time semi-institution in the area that in its late years went downhill in appearance and in food quality.

Luckily, according to gracious lead provider Bob, the new place has been completely renovated.  The owners are completely new owners, a husband and wife team, and they have brought a new menu along with them as well.  Speaking of Bob, I like his observations on the new restaurant so much that I’m going to post them here:

The inside of the restaurant has been completely redone.  No longer is it dark and dingy.  The tables and walls have custom woodwork and very clean looking and the menu is authentic Thai.  The menu includes a long list of appetizers along with salads, Soup/Hotpot and entrees of Pork, Veggie, Shrimp, Chicken, Beef and Tofu.  Also has the mix of Curry, Sautéed along with noodles and Fried Rice specialties.  Prices appear very reasonable for the food and atmosphere.

The menu also includes Thai House Specialties which include soft shell crab, Seafood and Shrimp Curry with Pineapple which I had the other night.  It was very good.

Sounds pretty good to me!  My wife and I enjoy Shabashabu Thai for a nice meal out and Sawasdee Thai for a great affordable Thai lunch, but it will be nice to have another good option.

Thanks, Bob!

This is good news. Back in the late 90s, Thai Garden was my very first experience with Thai food and I’ve been hooked on the stuff ever since.
It was real sad after the millenium that place started going downhill really hard. Luckily other places were opening giving other choices, but it was still sad to see the place go out like that.
I can’t wait to try the new Thai House!

If you haven’t tried it, Taste of Thai on Falls of Neuse is very solid, the atmosphere is comfortable and the price is right. My wife, kids and I eat there a couple of times a month.
The food isn’t quite at the elite level–and not as unique–as Sawasdee, but it’s authentic and very good.

I went to Thai House today for lunch. It was quite good. I had the Thai spicy Basil Shrimp meal with a cup of soup. Tasty !!
The inside was nice and new and as stated “clean.” Even the parking lot has been redone.
There are 3 Thai places along Wake Forest/Falls of Nuese there and all seem to be good. I like them all but there are differences.

Just tried this place last night. It was delicious!
    Very nice atmosphere too!
Some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a good long while. Two thumbs up!

We’ve eaten there twice in the last few weeks are are quite impressed. I’ve had the whole fish in chile sauce and a red curry dish. Each was fresh and delicious. And each time we were greeted by the chef at the end our meal. Reasonably priced and all around delightful. Highly recommended.

    Worst food ever
I literally took 2 bites then left. The taste reminded me of when I was a child and expermented in the kitchen making things that even the dog wouldn’t go near. Their noodles were gray and the sauce looked and smelled like soggy waste-can water. The service was fine, though – the ‘food’ came promptly and all service was with a smile
