Canes on New Station; Drop Cheap Seat Prices to $10

Canes_logoThe Carolina Hurricanes have found a new home in Curtis Media Group’s 102.9 FM, Raleigh’s oldies station. This is the strongest signal yet for the Canes’ broadcasts, as a previous home 850 The Buzz has a weak night signal.

In addition, the Hurricanes have lowered the ticket prices for the cheap seats to $10.29 in honor of the deal. There will be over 1700 tickets at this price level, constituting around 10% of the total RBC Center seating

The Canes’ home opener is on Friday, Oct 7 vs. Pittsburgh. They will play four exhibition games here in September. Individual game tickets go on sale on September 17.

Awesome. Maybe us little people can afford to go to a game. Honestly, this was a much needed price break. The last time I went to a game was over a year ago when my brother Kyle took me for my birthday. We had decent seats, but even these “rafter” seats were $27.50(!)…quite expensive for a Tuesday night out. That doesn’t even take into consideration the beer costs: $8 for 10 ounces (a joke), parking, food, etc. Anyway, the Canes need to realize that this isn’t DC, Atlanta, or even Charlotte. I love Raleigh – born and bred inside the ol’ beltline – but if they want to keep butts in the seats, they have to realize that not everyone can afford $30 tickets all the time. Now that the seats are cheaper, I’ll probably go more frequently.
Nice site by the way Mr. Dana!

I’ll be there opening night… but it will be interesting to see what kind of turn out they get. The sale they are having on the Season and Mini-Season packs is really awesome now too… and to me these are the kinds of discounts they should offer all the time to those willing to commit to more than just a game here or there. Last time we bought a Mini-Season pack a couple of years ago we got a shabby $2 off the normal price of the seat. Whoopdedoo.
Anyway, I’m excited for this year. Will be nice to have hockey back. Makes for a fun evening.
